Healthcare for people who want more choice
You can never really put a price on a person's health but when it comes to our health and well being we all want the very best medical care and attention as soon as possible. Whilst the NHS is a healthcare system to be proud of it often falls short, especially if you are looking to receive treatment quickly.
Private health insurance provides individuals with healthcare solutions. Having a personal health insurance policy gives you swift access to treatment available under your level of cover at a hospital of your choice, helping to restore you back to good health.
The core proposition of private health insurance allows you, and any other dependants on your policy, to be covered for new medical conditions which develop after you have taken out your policy. Usually any pre-existing conditions will not be covered by the insurance company. In order to receive treatment for these conditions you would be required to 'self-pay' or be treated on the NHS.
Some health insurers provide extra services and benefits in addition to the private medical insurance. For example, some insurance companies will provide cover if you require home nursing services, provide assistance with complementary or alternative medicine or offer 24/7 advice lines.
Once you have chosen your cover options you are often given the opportunity to reduce your premium with a voluntary excess. With a voluntary excess you would be required to pay a set amount towards any medical treatment you receive on a per person per year basis. By opting for this option you would receive a discount from your premium and typically the bigger the excess agreement the bigger the premium discount.
For many people an excess enables them to save money on their premium throughout the year whilst still giving them the peace of mind that they will be covered in the event they need health treatment. One of the many benefits of health insurance is knowing you can choose where to receive treatment, often from a wide range of hospitals throughout the UK.
Insurance companies are able to do this by grading the hospital lists they offer treatment within. Often the hospital lists that offer broader choice, such as some of the more expensive hospitals inside London, will increase premium.
Whatever you are looking for in a private healthcare policy one thing is certain you will certainly be spoilt for choice. So to narrow your search, why not try to find a health insurance provider that is specific to your job sector, CS Healthcare for example provide personal medical plans for those who work, or have worked in the civil service and public sector.
